Write about a dream that felt real

The other night I had a dream that felt very real at the time, but in hind sight, it makes no sense. Me and my brother were hiding from our extended family, so logically we walked through a dark alley with fences on both sides. This alley was filled with alligators and they bit off both of my brothers legs. I was able to climb a fence so I was safe. Thankfully, even though he was legless, my brother was able to survive. Yes I am painfully aware this is not very real.

Today in class we read some of the color purple. We are seeing more about the character development and arcs today.

Write about what you remember or have been told about the day you were born

The day I was born was very different from most people. My mom woke up and went to work, because she was only 7 months pregnant. Then suddenly, her water broke and she had to be rushed to the hospital from Oak Grove Elementary. Me and my brother are twins, and so we were expected to be born early, but not 2 months. She was rushed into an emergency c-section and me and my brother were born. I was 4 pounds one ounce and he was only 4 pounds. I didn't cry when I was born, and both of us had a wide range of medical needs. We were fully reliant on medial technology to be able to breath, get nutrients, and our hearts would continuously stop beating. This led to a day full of fear and I think it relates more to infant sorrow. We lived in the NICU at choa for a month before going home. It was a very scary day for sure.  Today in class we read and analyzed 2 pairs of opposing poems and wrote a one-pager on them. I chose the contrasting poems infant joy and infant sorrow. Today has been a gr...

Discuss how mastering precise vocabulary can impact your daily communication and academic success.

Having a more precise and sophisticated vocabulary can impact communication in many ways. First, it can make you seem smarter, which will benefit you in the work force, interviews, and day-to-day life. In addition, it will allow you to better understand what people are saying, and how to work well with others. Lastly, it will increase your confidence and understanding of the world around you.  Today in class we worked through vocabulary lesson 14. The word that stood out most to me was pandemic, but this was because of my large amounts of exposure to the word. I am working very hard to get my grade back up to an A, even if it is a lost cause at this point.

NewsELA

Today in class we completed an assignment in NewsELA about the change in U.S. immigration coming between now and 2055. In my reflection on this assignment I discovered how little I knew about this issue, and I intend to become more educated on it. I did not enjoy this assignment because I have never done a NewsELA assignment before and it was difficult to navigate and understand and because it just felt like pointless busy work. Due to the fact that I have never done one before, I am not fully confident that I did it correctly. Tonight I am working so I hope to make good tips, then to be home early enough to get a good night of sleep.
