Write about the best gift you have received.

I have received many amazing and special physical gifts in my life, but I think that the best gift I have ever received was theater. I know this is not something that I can open up under the tree at Christmas, but theater is so important to me for many reasons. First of all, it gives me an opportunity to express my creativity, both in my performance and in my choreography. Secondly, it gives me a chance to be a leader and a teacher. Finally, I get to entertain hundreds of other people a night, and I truly believe that theater is a magical thing that can help people escape.

Today in class we read and analisized The Color Purple letters 20-25. This helped me grow in my reading for comprehension skills, and it helps me better understand the novel. I am very scared for the exam, because I really want to keep my A in the class, but I am very excited for the break.

Discuss how mastering precise vocabulary can impact your daily communication and academic success.

Having a more precise and sophisticated vocabulary can impact communication in many ways. First, it can make you seem smarter, which will benefit you in the work force, interviews, and day-to-day life. In addition, it will allow you to better understand what people are saying, and how to work well with others. Lastly, it will increase your confidence and understanding of the world around you.  Today in class we worked through vocabulary lesson 14. The word that stood out most to me was pandemic, but this was because of my large amounts of exposure to the word. I am working very hard to get my grade back up to an A, even if it is a lost cause at this point.

Write about what you remember or have been told about the day you were born

The day I was born was very different from most people. My mom woke up and went to work, because she was only 7 months pregnant. Then suddenly, her water broke and she had to be rushed to the hospital from Oak Grove Elementary. Me and my brother are twins, and so we were expected to be born early, but not 2 months. She was rushed into an emergency c-section and me and my brother were born. I was 4 pounds one ounce and he was only 4 pounds. I didn't cry when I was born, and both of us had a wide range of medical needs. We were fully reliant on medial technology to be able to breath, get nutrients, and our hearts would continuously stop beating. This led to a day full of fear and I think it relates more to infant sorrow. We lived in the NICU at choa for a month before going home. It was a very scary day for sure.  Today in class we read and analyzed 2 pairs of opposing poems and wrote a one-pager on them. I chose the contrasting poems infant joy and infant sorrow. Today has been a gr...

What holiday do you look forward to the most each year, and why is it your favorite?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I look forward to many aspects of it, and the time around of it. I love the candlelight Christmas Eve service at my church, especially because I have been able to be a part of the service for the past 7 years. In our family, we have Christmas day with about 25 family members, which is a lot of people, but it is fun for a little while. I love the combination of religion and family this holiday encompasses.  Today we took a common assessment for multicultural Lit. I felt very confident on it and I am hopeful it helps me get above an 85.
