Write about your most special holiday memory.

I have a very large family, and part of that is having a LOT of holiday traditions that control everything from what we wear, to how we cook, to how we worship. To me, I don't have one specific holiday memory that is the best, but instead I have aspects to all of them that I love. For example, still to this day I sit on the stairs at 5am on Christmas morning waiting for my parents to tell me to come downstairs and see what I got for Christmas. Everyone in my family always wears the same pajamas, and we have a ceremony when we make the coffee cake in order for it to rise. I love Christmas a lot.

Today in class we read and analizized letters 26 and 27 in The Color Purple. In full honesty, I thought the assignment from yesterday and today were the same because I read it super fast, but I am quickly finishing it now.

What do you believe is the most beautiful creation in the world—natural or man-made—and why?

I believe the most beautiful creation in the world is waterfalls. There's something so magical about the cascading water and the way it falls on the rocks below. They truly show me the scale of the Earth, and how small I am in comparison to everything. I can't see them and not thank God for everything he does. Today in class we read the poem Tyger and answered questions about it. I really enjoyed this poem, especially in regards to Earth Day. I am going to the aquarium with my friends for a yoga class today and I am very excited.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

One skill that I have learned in high skill that will help me live independently after high school is how to be assertive. I used to be very scared to speak my mind and enact change, but with the help of theater, I have learned how to speak my mind and be true to myself. I actually was presented an award from Georgia Thespians this weekend, for being the top theater maker of the year, and I am so honored. I think this will help me when I grow up because I will be able to make change happen, and I can speak my truth.  Today in class we had a newsELA where we learned about the Bill of Rights. It was super interesting, and I am excited to learn more.

What holiday do you look forward to the most each year, and why is it your favorite?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I look forward to many aspects of it, and the time around of it. I love the candlelight Christmas Eve service at my church, especially because I have been able to be a part of the service for the past 7 years. In our family, we have Christmas day with about 25 family members, which is a lot of people, but it is fun for a little while. I love the combination of religion and family this holiday encompasses.  Today we took a common assessment for multicultural Lit. I felt very confident on it and I am hopeful it helps me get above an 85.
